The Peace Dale Elementary School PTO has one major fundraiser each year.
The PTO is very excited to host this fun and healthy fundraiserat Peace Dale School!!! Please read the following to familiarize yourself with this event. My name is Karen Humes, and I amyour walk-a-thon contact person for the Peace Dale ElementarySchool PTO...
HOW DOES A WALK-A-THON WORK??
A theme is chosen... This year it is the Tour the USA! Each classroom/team chooses a theme state and name in the coming weeks.
Pledge sheets will be sent home with each child this week. Children areasked to get pledges based on the 30 minute time that they will walk. Weare basing pledges on walking for 30 minutes, rather than how manylaps students complete. This way, you are able to collect the money whenyou are asking for pledges, rather than having to go back to collect themoney. There is also the option of pledging a flat $ amount. Look forpledge sheets to come home this week. You may collect the money aheadof time, or after .... Since we are all walking for the 30 minute timeframe, you can pay when you pledge or after, your choice.
Students will come to the gym as a classroom team, showing their statepride, wearing the state colors!!! They will report to their station in thegym where their classroom teachers and staff will lead them in a warmup. Once warmed up, lively music will be played and the fun begins!!Children will walk for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, the music will stopand the students will learn just how many “miles” they have walked andwhere we are at on our tour of the USA ... our goal is make through theentire USA. It’s that simple...
The plan this year is to have the students “start” in Peace Dale ... andtravel the United States ... making “stops” along the way and learningfacts about a historical or significant attraction.
Please get as many pledges as possible, as this is our only majorfundraiser of the year. The PTO uses this money to support manyareas of our school, and all of the money goes back to our school!!!
Look for more information to come home next week. If you haveany questions at all, please do not hesitate to contact me at 413-4411 or firstname.lastname@example.org
The Holiday Fair
